Edward Brazier, Age 21

Private, 12872, 1st Battalion, King's Shropshire Light Infantry.

Edward was the son of Edward (a Puddler) and Mary of 8 Ladies Row, Hinkshay.

He had enlisted in the KSLI in September 1914, prior to which he had worked at the Court Works, Madeley and at Parker's of Madeley.

Edward had served in Salonika and had written to the Dawley news a number of times mentioning being transported back to the UK with a serious illness aboard the Britannic (Titanic's sister ship which served as a hospital ship in WW1 before being sunk) he mentions on leaving Salonika one of the last sights he saw was Lewis Halford watering his mule.

Edward was killed in action on the 20^th November 1917 during the battle of Cambrai when his battalion whilst advancing was caught by machine gun fire from Ribecourt causing 40 Casualties.

Edward lies in the Ribecourt Cemetery in grave I.D.7
